The role

We are recruiting a Deputy Expert Counsel to join our Expert Counsel team and assist with legal subject matter expertise for the Dispute Resolution Services (DRS) department's practices and procedures with a particular focus on ICC's Data and AI program.

You will work on a variety of tasks, including:

• DRS projects and initiatives. Participate actively in projects involving internal and external stakeholders assigned by the Expert Counsel where subject matter input is required, including:
• Projects foreseen in the DRS workplan;
• The continuous improvement of services offered by DRS;
• Any other projects or initiatives required by the Office of the Secretary General relating to matters of practice and ensuring business continuity for DRS.
• Model documents and templates. In coordination with the Expert Counsel, and assisted by the DRS Operations Support Officer, draft model documents and templates to improve efficiency and reflect changes in internal practices and procedures.
• Internal monitoring. Manage staff announcements to monitor evolving internal practices and procedures.
• Case management support. Support case management teams by providing training and assistance with workload if required.
• Training. Organise training sessions and draft training materials for legal staff.
• Preparation of notes or articles. Prepare notes or articles for internal purposes and/or publication.
• Representation at events. Represent the ICC International Court of Arbitration and its Secretariat during seminars and conferences.

Requirements

Do not hesitate to apply if you:

• Are a recently qualified lawyer with at least 2 years' relevant professional experience in international arbitration;
• Hold a postgraduate degree in international arbitration, international law, or international commercial law;
• Have a knowledge of ICC Rules of Arbitration, the practice of the ICC Court and its Secretariat, and the needs for the daily tasks of the Secretariat;
• Have an expertise in arbitration practice in one of the regions of DRS strategic focus;
• Possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French;
• Have an interest in, and take a proactive approach to, transformation, digital enablement and other initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency;
• Are a real team player;
• Are able to apply knowledge and experience to make proposals for the continuous improvement of the daily work of DRS;
• Are ready to cooperate in new projects;
• Are well organised, rigorous, and keen on working on consistencies in the drafting and preparation of documents;
• Are able to work under time pressure;
• Have a "can-do" attitude with the ability to take initiative and work independently.
