About the Role

Reporting directly to the Field Operations Manager, we are seeking an energetic, proactive, and highly motivated Maintenance Supervisor to join our Durban team. In this position, you will lead an operational service delivery team responsible for ensuring that KONE consistently meets its customer commitments safely, punctually, and at the highest standards of quality.

The Maintenance Supervisor plays a key role in building customer trust, delivering value, and fostering long-term loyalty. For this reason, we are looking for someone with a proven track record as a self-starter who truly understands the principles of selling and service excellence. The ideal candidate is influential, results-driven, and possesses strong commercial acumen.

Key responsibilities

  • Take full ownership and lead the maintenance team to ensure safe, high-quality, and complete-on-time delivery of maintenance solutions.
  • Represent KONE in interacting with customers and other stakeholders.
  • Support the sales team in following up with sales leads and providing KONE service and technical experience.
  • Be there for the maintenance team to help resolve and close open callouts, respond to stopped equipment, and address other safety issues.
  • To lead the delivery of service in accordance with the service contract requirements, time limits, and KONE quality standards, and local regulations.
  • Prepare the overall maintenance program and resource planning.
  • Manage the maintenance team, including daily human resource management (absences, time sheet review/approvals) and report project progress (schedule, maintenance hours, fitter time sheets, budget and risk analysis) to the management team.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and use the KONE tools available.

What we're looking for

  • Hold a Diploma or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience in the elevator and escalator industry is a must.
  • Effective leader and coach with the ability to motivate a successful team.
  • Highly motivated, goal-oriented, diligent, organized self-starter with an orientation towards a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to work together as a team and promote a harmonious environment.
  • Passion for Mechanical & Electrical vocations, with a proven track record and a strong customer focus.
  • Excellent English communication.
