About Anthogyr
Since 80 years, Anthogyr designs and manufactures medical devices that are sold worldwide to assist healthcare professionals to treat their patients. Located in the Mont Blanc valley in the French Alps, Anthogyr does business on a human scale but addresses the global market as an implant manufacturer, with leading or challenging positions in France and rapid-growth markets such as China. Within the international group, we offer you the opportunity to grow in an innovative and professional environment in a dynamic team.

About The Role
Anthogyr is seeking for a qualified dentist with a strong commitment to science, research and innovation within the field. The position is part of the European Doctoral Network "SHIELD" (Strategies for Healing Implant-associated infections and Enhancing Longevity in Devices). SHIELD offers an exciting opportunity for early-career researchers to contribute to transforming the management of infections associated to medical implants. Focused on addressing the challenges posed by implant-associated infections (IAIs), SHIELD aims to deepen our understanding of IAI mechanisms and develop innovative antibacterial biomaterials to improve patient outcomes.

The start date will be in early March at the latest.

Objectives

The PhD student will work on a PhD project aiming to prepare and characterize innovative surfaces treatments on dental implants and evaluate the clinical performance of biomimetic and personalized macroscopic designs for soft-tissue healing. The project will be conducted using in vitro models in collaboration with leading universities (University of Gothenburg and University of Oslo). These approaches will be ultimately evaluated through clinical trial in a very close collaboration with Hospices Civils de Lyon, France, where the PhD candidate will be registered and co-supervised by senior researchers from University of Lyon.

Research activities include

  • Characterization of innovative, nanostructured surfaces
  • Simulating biofilm model/host interactions via a flow cell co-culture system
  • Assessing the effectiveness of customised, anatomically shaped devices using in vitro and/or in vivo models
  • Develop and conduct an interventional study protocol on patients to compare the most effective nanostructured surface with a polished reference surface at individual implant sites

Training and mobility

  • The PhD student will be required to work on different sites:
  • Anthogyr, Sallanches, France
