The City of Niagara Falls is seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team as Labourer and Maintenance summer students. We are looking for individuals with a positive attitude to assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the City's parks, roadways, cemeteries, construction, fleet, and facilities. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the community while gaining valuable experience.
Responsibilities:
Grass cutting, weeding and trimming
Basic gardening
Janitorial work
Litter and leaf pick up
Painting and work-site cleanup
Loading and unloading trucks
Safe operation and maintenance of handheld tools and grounds maintenance equipment (i.e. utility vehicles, trimmers, mowers, hand tools, etc.)
Requirements:
Enrolled in full-time post-secondary studies for the semester preceding the upcoming summer and returning to full-time post-secondary studies in the following September (proof of enrolment required)
Appropriate work/protective clothing and CSA-approved safety footwear is required
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Physical ability to lift, work outdoors and operate various landscaping/gardening equipment
Experience in landscaping, grass cutting or horticulture
Available to work all shifts as assigned, including evenings, weekends and holidays from early May to the end of August
A valid 'G' class Ontario Driver's license would be considered an asset.
The number of vacancies is dependent upon operational needs and budget approval.
