At Amatera, we are building the future of sustainable crops. By advancing plant cell biology, we create solutions to major challenges such as climate change, diseases, and the need for more resilient crops. Our focus is on perennial plants like coffee, grapevine, and beyond.
We are looking for a passionate Data Scientist eager to build bridges between plant cell biology and deep learning — someone who has a strong data science background, used to work with biologists, and will enjoy cracking the "black box" of plant cell biology.
Your mission
- Develop state-of-the-art deep learning models for plant cell biology mechanism predictions.
- Partner with teammates in Cell Biology Team and Automation Team to identify key challenges and design innovative, AI-driven solutions.
- Build the foundation of our data pipeline and lead our data strategy.
What we're looking for
- MSc or PhD in machine learning, AI, computer science, or related fields.
- 3-5+ years in computer vision, experience in microscopy is a plus.
- Hands-on prior experiences in building and executing from scratch a data strategy, from setting up the infrastructure to build, test and launch models. Leadership experience is a plus.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and MLOps practices to ensure scalable, reliable model delivery.
- Proficiency in deploying machine learning solutions to cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Motivated and self-driven, with a proactive, "can-do" mentality and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic start-up environment.
- Fluent in English (C1 minimum); French is a bonus, not a requirement.
- Strong teamwork, rigor, communication, and problem-solving skills.
