As we scale our user base, we're strengthening our engineering foundation - reducing latency, increasing service reliability, and elevating code quality and delivery standards. The Staff Software Engineer will be the technical leader of this transformation, shaping the architecture, engineering practices, and the quality processes that enable ALPHA10X to scale securely and efficiently.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you'll mentor a team of talented engineers, drive the modernization of our services, and embed a culture of technical and operational excellence, code quality, and reliable delivery.

Key responsibilities:

• Collaboration & Leadership: Partner with Product, AI, Data and Solutions to turn business needs into reliable, high-quality services. Facilitate cross-team collaboration and drive a delivery-first culture with clear standards and shared ownership of outcomes.
• Architecture & Delivery: Lead the evolution of our Azure-based microservices toward scalable, resilient designs. Profile and remove performance bottlenecks. Apply idempotency, retries, and event-driven patterns in your services where they add robustness and clarity.
• CI/CD & Testing Excellence: Contribute to high-quality Azure DevOps pipelines by defining meaningful tests and quality gates (unit, integration, contract, end-to-end). Use platform-provided deployment strategies (feature flags, canary, blue-green, rollback) to ship safely. Introduce load and performance testing for your services to ensure reliability under real conditions.
• Reliability & Observability: Define and track SLIs/SLOs for the services you own. Strengthen observability by adding the right alerts, dashboards, and runbooks for your domain. Lead incident response and post-mortems for your services to build a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
• Team Growth & Mentorship: Coach engineers through pair programming and structured reviews. Set the technical bar, foster pragmatic design decisions, and grow their skills. Drive execution following agile principles to keep execution focused and predictable.

What We Are Looking For

• Hard skills

• Engineering leadership: 10+ years in software engineering with proven ownership of production systems and experience as technical leader of small to mid-size engineering teams.

• Strong coding ability: Expert in TypeScript and/or Python, with deep understanding of system design, modular architecture, and clean code principles. Focus on testability, readability, and performance; sets and enforces engineering standards through code reviews and mentorship. Designs comprehensive testing strategies with solid CI/CD integration and meaningful quality gates.
• Architectural design: Skilled at designing scalable, event-driven microservices and well-structured APIs; familiar with DDD, CQRS, and asynchronous messaging patterns. Strong foundations in end-to-end systems design. Hands-on experience working with cloud resources, with solid grounding in networking, scalability, and observability concepts.
• Collaboration & communication: Comfortable partnering cross-functionally with AI, Data, Product, and Solutions to translate business goals into technical execution.
• Security & reliability mindset: Understands secure coding, dependency hygiene, and operational robustness (monitoring, alerting, rollback strategies).

• Bonus: Experience shipping AI-enabled or search-centric products, or modernizing legacy codebases toward modular, testable architectures.
