Job Summary

The Power BI Lead will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing end-to-end business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI, Databricks, and Azure Data Services. This role involves driving data visualization strategy, ensuring data model efficiency, and enabling actionable insights for business stakeholders. The Power BI Lead will act as a technical expert and mentor within the BI team, fostering excellence, consistency, and innovation in reporting and analytics delivery.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Design, develop, maintain, and deploy Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models aligned with business requirements.
  • Optimize Power BI data models and improve performance through efficient DAX calculations and best practices.
  • Implement and manage row-level security (RLS) across datasets and dashboards.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and architects to ensure data models are properly structured and integrated.
  • Oversee Power BI deployments and maintain version control using GitHub.
  • Prepare and maintain functional and technical documentation for both existing and new projects.
  • Actively participate in code reviews and Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, retrospectives, etc.).
  • Conduct data quality analysis and propose improvements for data accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and testers to ensure solution alignment and user satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating analytical results into actionable insights.
  • Lead workshops, whiteboarding sessions, and project meetings to define key use cases and BI requirements.
  • Provide thought leadership, best practices, and standards for reporting and visualization solutions.
  • Mentor junior BI team members, supporting their growth and skill development.
  • Stay up to date with latest Power BI capabilities and industry trends to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of experience developing complex Power BI and Power BI Report Builder solutions, with strong focus on data modeling and DAX optimization.
  • Excellent knowledge of Power BI Service and deployment lifecycle.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Data Lake Storage.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks and data platform integration.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with ETL processes and data transformation.
  • Experience using GitHub for BI deployment pipelines (branching, pull requests, CI/CD).
  • Strong understanding of data warehouse and relational database
  • Solid grasp of data visualization best practices, model optimization, and performance tuning in Power BI.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum frameworks using Jira and Confluence.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal and written), capable of presenting data insights clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Proactive, motivated, and self-driven, capable of delivering both independently and collaboratively.

  • Proven experience leading Power BI development projects and managing deployment pipelines.
  • Expertise in DAX performance optimization and data modeling design.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and Azure-based ecosystems.
