Role Overview:

We invite you to join us as our founding CTO, where you'll lead the technical development of a pioneering solution with a filed patent and established market validation. We are in search of a forward-thinking technical leader who can drive execution and scale our growth.

Your mission:

• Architect and build the core platform from patent to product
• Deliver MVP and first customer proof-of-concepts
• Build and lead the founding engineering team
• Establish technical processes, standards, and engineering culture
• Lead technical strategy through seed funding and beyond
• Represent QUANTHRONEX to investors, partners, and customers

Required Qualifications:

Key Technical Skills ( must-have )

• Domain Expertise:
  Strong foundation in grid optimization, power flow analysis, or energy system modeling - TSO/DSO Understanding – How grid operators manage balancing, congestion, and flexibility
• Energy Markets
  – Day-ahead, intraday, balancing market mechanisms, ancillary services (FCR, aFRR, mFRR)
• Optimization Methods:
  Proficiency in constrained optimization, numerical methods, and solver implementation.
• Software Engineering:
  Proficient in Python (NumPy, SciPy) with the ability to architect production-grade systems.
• Real-time Systems:
  Experience with low-latency, high-reliability system design.
• Embedded & Edge Systems
  : Familiarity with edge computing architectures, industrial protocols (OPC-UA, Modbus, IEC 61850), or RTOS environments.

Required Background (One of the Following):

Path A — Academic:

• PhD (completed or in the final year) in Power Systems Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or Operations Research.
• Research involving optimization, grid modeling, or energy systems.
• Strong publication record or demonstrated technical depth.

Path B — Industry:

• MSc in a relevant field + 3-5 years in R&D or product engineering at a European TSO, DSO, or grid technology company.
• Hands-on experience building optimization or grid management systems.
• Proven track record of delivering production software.

Preferred (Not Required):

• Familiarity with European grid codes and standards.
• Experience with flexibility or balancing markets.
• Exposure to battery storage optimization.
• Knowledge of the French energy market.

Leadership Profile

• Engineering team leadership experience
• Strong project delivery track record
• Investor-facing communication capability
• Strategic mindset for international scale-up

Qualifications

• PhD or MSc: Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Power Systems, or related

Language:

Mandatory:
Fluency in English AND at least one of the following:

• French (native or professional proficiency)
• German (native or professional proficiency)
