Forward-Deployed Software/AI Engineer — Paris, France

About Mirage Metrics

We build mission-critical software and AI systems for logistics, industrial, mining, manufacturing, energy, and construction groups.

Our clients don't want dashboards, they want problems solved.

We build systems directly on the ground, alongside operators, and stay until they work. This role is for engineers who want to work close to reality, not behind tickets.

The Role

  • You'll deploy directly into client environments: factories, ports, control rooms, warehouses.
  • You'll identify bottlenecks, architect solutions, build them, deploy them, and own the result.
  • No product managers. No polished specs. You'll operate in chaos and create clarity.

Responsibilities

  • Work on site to understand real workflows and surface the right problems
  • Design, build, and deploy end-to-end systems: data infra, APIs, AI agents, lightweight UIs
  • Integrate with ERPs, WMS/TMS, SCADA or hardware when needed
  • Translate messy processes into tools that cut time, errors, or cost
  • Build trust with both frontline staff and executives
  • Own everything you ship, diagnose, fix, iterate
  • Contribute lessons back to Mirage's core platform and tooling

Required Experience

  • 1-3 years building and shipping production software
  • Strong in Python & SQL; backend experience with FastAPI or Django
  • Experience with real-world data engineering (ETL, pipelines, orchestration)
  • Comfortable with Docker, cloud deployment (GCP/AWS), CI/CD
  • Familiarity with AI tooling: OCR, embeddings, LLMs, Hugging Face, RAG
  • Ability to debug full stack issues, including network, DB, and UX edge cases

Nice to Have

  • Experience with ERP/WMS/TMS systems (Odoo, SAP, Generix, Hardis…)
  • Basic frontend for internal tools (React or Tailwind)
  • Background in logistics, manufacturing, construction, mining or energy
  • Understanding of on-prem environments: VPNs, firewalls, proxies
  • Driver's license for visiting sites and operations hubs

Languages

  • French:
     native or full professional
  • English:
     full professional (internal collaboration required)
  • Spanish or Portuguese:
     strong plus (Southern Europe client base)

  • Extreme ownership, you finish what you start
  • Comfortable in factories, warehouses, and boardrooms
  • Able to simplify complexity for both engineers and operators
  • Calm under pressure; impatient with slow execution
  • Willing to travel 50–70% of the time
