Freelance Denim Designer for High-End Womenswear (Part-time / Contract)
About the Opportunity
We are hiring Freelance Knitwear Designers based in Europe to collaborate with one of China's top 10 womenswear groups — a publicly listed, high-end fashion company known for its refined, urban, feminine, and sophisticated aesthetic.
This is a part-time / freelance role, with remote work as the primary mode of collaboration. Designers should be willing to travel to China during the prototype stage (short trips only).
What You Will Do
Design knitwear collections including tops, dresses, outerwear, and capsule looks
Develop moodboards, creative concepts, silhouettes, stitch structures, and yarn proposals
Produce complete and detailed tech packs, ensuring clear communication with sample rooms
Lead and supervise prototype development, including:
• Coordinating with manufacturers and sample rooms
• Reviewing samples and providing construction, fit, and quality feedback
• Monitoring timelines and key development milestones
Collaborate closely with merchandising, pattern-making, and product development teams
Ensure all designs align with a modern, elegant, urban womenswear DNA
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of independent experience in women's knitwear design.
Strong expertise in yarns, gauges, stitches, knit structures, and production processes.
Proven ability to design feminine, refined, and well-fitted silhouettes.
Solid understanding of different yarn materials and knitwear manufacturing workflows.
Highly creative, detail-oriented, and trend-sensitive.
Based in Europe, enabling easier coordination with our Paris-based representative team
English required; Chinese or French is a plus
Willingness to travel to China during the prototype stage:
• 1–2 short trips, each 4–6 days
• All travel expenses covered by the client
Experience with Asian / Chinese markets is advantageous
