Job Title
Software Engineer — Test Automation & Evaluation - Sophia Antipolis

Job Description
Axis is hiring a Software Engineer — Test Automation & Evaluation (Video Analytics) on the French Riviera, where the Alps meet the sea Join our Sophia-Antipolis team to ensure the quality of cutting-edge, AI-based, data-driven video analytics that make cameras—and the world—smarter and safer.
Who is your future team?
We're an international crew of AI and software engineers, blending research with robust solutions deployed worldwide. Our secret? Passion, kindness, and knowledge sharing—all in a great place to live and work.

What you'll do here as
Software Engineer — Test Automation & Evaluation (Video Analytics) ?
As an integral part of our software engineering team, you'll raise the bar for our AI-based, data-driven video analytics products for customers worldwide. With a cross-team scope, you'll shape the tooling, automation, and metrics R&D uses every day, teaming up with our QA Lead and Tech Leads to make our applications production-ready—robust, reliable, accurate, and measurable.

  • Collaborate with developers to translate requirements into clear, measurable test strategies as early as possible. Ensure requirements are fully covered by tests.
  • Design, implement, and maintain automated tests in Axis' framework across unit, integration, system, and end-to-end levels to maximize coverage and reliability.
  • CI/CD integration: automate tests in the pipeline (Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Docker) for fast, reliable feedback.
  • Quality observability: dashboards and reports that quantify performance, highlight regressions, and track trends for developers.
  • Acquire and curate test data using cameras; enhance existing cases and broaden coverage where needed.
  • Be responsible for maintaining and evolving our Video Analytics Evaluation Platform: define accuracy and quality metrics and add diagnostics/insights that help R&D quantify performance, detect regressions, and prioritize improvements.
  • Monitor feature progress and performance, investigate failures, write clear test/evaluation reports, and drive continuous improvement of our testing practices.

Who are we looking for/Who are you?
We're looking for someone who embodies Axis' values—openness, teamwork, and collaboration—and brings a strong testing mindset.

  • Versatile engineer: comfortable developing automated tests in Axis' framework and enhancing our accuracy evaluation systems for R&D.
  • 5+ years of experience related to Software Engineering and/or software testing.
  • Solid programming skills in C/C++ and Python for automation, tools, and evaluation workflows; comfortable on Windows and Linux.
  • DevOps mindset (Git, CI/CD, Jenkins/GitHub Actions, Docker); you treat tests as first-class citizens and track quality trends.
  • Understanding of imaging/video analytics (including AI/ML approaches) and how to assess accuracy, robustness, and performance.
  • Hands-on experience testing web applications and REST APIs across backend and UI using modern test frameworks; knowledge of React and Fluent UI is a definite plus.
  • Fluent, clear written and verbal communication in English (French and/or Swedish are a plus).
  • Detail-oriented and practical—setting up cameras, managing datasets, scripting tools.
