About the role:As a Reactor Core Thermal Hydraulic Design intern, you will be a part of the Fuel Rod and Thermal Hydraulic Design Group which focuses on analyses for US and international customers, following approved methodologies, procedures and internal processes on nuclear safety and quality to produce error-free work.
You will report to the Fuel Rod & Thermal Hydraulic Design Manager and be located at our Cranberry facility. This is a paid full-time onsite position for the summer.
Key Responsibilities:- You will participate in introductory thermal hydraulic design specific training and learning seminars
- You will acquire knowledge about reactor core thermal hydraulic design, the key fuel features and operating parameters, the design process and parameters, the codes used to evaluate thermal hydraulic design and the different analyses performed
- You will perform thermal hydraulic design analyses by using the internal subchannel codes, following approved methodologies
- You will work directly with industry professionals who will teach you the technical and professional aspects of fuel rod design and working in the nuclear industry
- Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, or related discipline
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Completed Sophomore year of college
- Computer simulation, programming skills and Linux experience
We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The hourly rate for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $22.69 to $27.50 per hour.
