Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Energy Marshal to take full responsibility for electrical safety and energisation control on a large-scale construction and commissioning project. This role acts as the single point of control for all electrical energy management activities, ensuring that energisation is carried out safely, systematically, and in compliance with all relevant standards and procedures.

The Energy Marshal will oversee the transition from construction to energised systems, managing interfaces between multiple contractors, commissioning teams, and vendors. The role is critical in preventing uncontrolled energisation, reducing arc flash and electric shock risks, and maintaining a disciplined, auditable process throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the project's electrical energisation control framework.
  • Own and maintain the Electrical Safety Plan and associated procedures.
  • Define and manage energisation strategy, sequencing, and readiness checks.
  • Implement and control Permit to Energise and Lock-Out/Tag-Out systems.
  • Maintain live asset registers, energisation zone layouts, and isolation certificates.
  • Chair energisation coordination meetings and review switching plans.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and client requirements.
  • Audit energisation controls, investigate incidents, and implement corrective actions.
  • Act as the interface between construction, commissioning, vendors, and client teams.
  • Verify competency and authorisation of personnel undertaking electrical works.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience as electrical safety lead or energisation authority on complex projects
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety principles, isolation, verification, and switching discipline.
  • Practical competence in managing energisation interfaces across multiple contractors.
  • Ability to challenge and stop work when safety controls are not met.
  • Strong documentation and audit skills.
