CT19 are collaborating with a fast-growing, VC-backed deep-tech company, based in Paris, who are developing next-generation optical microchip sensors, measuring various parameters (acidity, temperature, oxygenation) directly within a biochemical reaction.

Their technology enables smarter, more sustainable production across pharmaceuticals, food, and energy, while significantly reducing waste.

We are seeking an
Optomechanical Industrialization Engineer
to lead the transition of its sensing systems from R&D into robust, scalable manufacturing. This is a hands-on, high-impact role working at the intersection of optics, mechanics, and industrialisation.

The Role

You will be responsible for the
design, prototyping, and industrialisation
of optical assemblies that integrate chip-scale sensors, OEM components, and custom-made parts, ensuring mechanical robustness, manufacturability, and quality across the full lifecycle. This will be highly collaborative, working closely with R&D, manufacturing partners, and suppliers, reporting directly to the CTO.

Key Responsibilities:

Optomechanical Design & Prototyping

  • Select, qualify, and integrate optical components (fibres, lasers, detectors, etc.).
  • Design, assemble, and test optical prototypes with a focus on fibre optics, alignment, and optomechanical integration.
  • Debug and resolve issues at component, assembly, and system level.
  • Perform performance, durability, and manufacturability testing.
  • Optimise designs for cost, scalability, and ease of assembly.

Industrialisation, Suppliers & Contract Manufacturing

  • Identify, qualify, and onboard subcontractors, CMOs, and engineering partners.
  • Act as the primary technical interface with external manufacturing partners.
  • Define technical requirements, review proposals, and answer technical queries.
  • Manage procurement, timelines, and technical documentation.
  • Lead the transition from prototyping to volume production.

Quality & Compliance

  • Establish and implement quality control processes for optical components and assemblies.
  • Perform incoming inspections and validate components against specifications.
  • Support compliance with relevant ISO standards in collaboration with quality teams.

Team Leadership

  • Manage and mentor a small team (1–2 engineers/technicians).
  • Provide technical guidance, set priorities, and ensure timely delivery of milestones.

Profile & Experience

You are a hands-on optomechanical engineer who enjoys taking products from concept to production and working closely with manufacturing partners.

  • Extensive experience in optomechanical engineering and industrialisation.
  • Technical expertise in optical system design (fibre optics, free-space optics, alignment, integration).
  • Hands-on experience selecting, testing, and validating optical components.
  • Familiarity with optical test equipment (e.g. spectrometers, interferometers, power meters).
  • Experienced in supplier management, quality control, and project coordination.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a small technical team.
