Are you a seasoned Software Engineer passionate about bridging the gap between robust backend systems and cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence? At LumApps, we are looking for a builder who cares as much about API latency and system scalability as they do about LLM integration.

As a Senior AI Backend Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in our mission by architecting and building the production-grade infrastructure that powers our AI solutions. You won't just be prototyping; you will be engineering resilient, scalable systems that impact millions of users.

You will collaborate closely with product squads and fellow engineers to design, implement, and deploy AI-driven features within a complex distributed architecture. This role requires a strong foundation in backend engineering, distributed systems, and a pragmatic approach to applying AI in a SaaS environment.

Our tech stack:

• AI: We make use of the best of Google Vertex AI technologies, we build agents with AWS Strands

• Cloud Infrastructure as Code: We operate on GCP and AWS across multiple regions and we manage our infrastructure using Spacelift and Terraform.

• Container Orchestration: Our services run in containers using Kubernetes (EKS and GKE) managed with Helm and FluxCD/ArgoCD.

• Backend Services: Predominantly built in Python.

• Data Stores: We utilize PostgreSQL, MySQL, ClickHouse, BigQuery, Redis, and Elasticsearch.

• Monitoring and Logging: Implemented through Prometheus, Datadog, Grafana

*Missions*

• Architect & Build Agentic Systems: Design and develop scalable backend services and robust REST APIs specifically for hosting and orchestrating AI Agents, serving their capabilities to our web and mobile frontends.

• Productionize Agents: Move AI Agent prototypes to high-performance production systems, ensuring reliability, observability, and scalability within a distributed architecture.

• Integrate & Empower Agents: Seamlessly integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) and other AI services as tools and components for our AI Agents within our existing Python/Java microservices ecosystem.

• Ownership: Take full technical ownership of agentic features - from architectural design and code implementation to deployment and monitoring.

• Mentor & Lead: Act as a senior technical voice, advocating for engineering best practices, code quality, and architectural simplicity in the context of agentic development.

• MLOps for Agents: Automate pipelines and infrastructure to streamline the deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement of AI Agent services.

*Skills*

• Senior Engineering Foundation: 5+ years of experience in backend software development with a strong focus on building scalable, distributed systems (not just scripts or prototypes).

• Backend Fluency: Deep proficiency in Python. You understand concurrency, asynchronous programming, and how to build production-grade web servers.

• System Architecture: Proven experience with microservices architecture, API design, and integrating backend services with frontend clients (web/mobile).

• Production Experience: You have successfully shipped and maintained software in a high-load production environment. You understand what happens after deployment (monitoring, logging, alerts).

• AI Implementation: Practical experience integrating Generative AI/LLMs into software products (e.g., agentic workflows with Strands/LangChain/ADK, using RAG patterns, etc).

• Technical Depth: You can explain the "why" and "how" behind your code and architectural choices. You value deep understanding over blind implementation.

• Pragmatism: You prioritize delivering value to customers and shipping fast, adapting technical solutions to business needs.

*Bonus*

• Experience with cloud-native infrastructure (GCP/AWS/Azure, Kubernetes, Docker).

• Familiarity with MLOps tools and pipelines for managing model lifecycle.

• Experience optimizing API performance and handling latency in AI-driven applications.

• Contributions to open-source projects related to AI engineering or backend infrastructure.
