If you are a
Computer Vision Engineer (C++)
who enjoys solving problems where geometry meets physics, and e
verything needs to run yesterday on embedded hardware, you'll probably feel at home here.

We're building the
mathematical and computational backbone of a next-generation robotic
surgical platform
. It's a tricky environment:
you're working with
data from before and then in real time during surgery
. Everything needs to
align precisely while a patient is on the table ,
even 1mm of error matters. That means we're after someone who thinks in transforms, prototypes fast, and
gets a kick out of shaving milliseconds off something that already looks "pretty fast."

You may have
worked in parallel industries like aerospace, autonomous vehicles, industrial robotics, drones, defense, or maritime.

What you'll actually be doing

  • You'll be building and refining optimization algorithms for 3D registration, including ICP, point-cloud alignment, and surface/mesh matching.
  • Your work will involve turning your ideas into prototypes that the software team can turn into industrial-grade code. If your code only runs on your workstation with five GPUs and a dream, this isn't the place.
  • You'll also be tackling embedded and real-time constraints, thinking carefully about efficient data structures, parallelization, GPU, and multi-threading.
  • Throughout, you'll collaborate closely with surgeons, product people, and other researchers to understand what really matters in the OR and observe clinical procedures so your algorithms work in the complexity of real surgical workflows.

Key responsibilities include:

Build and refine optimization algorithms for 3D registration and point-cloud alignment.

Develop
real-time prototypes on constrained hardware using C++ (mandatory)
.

Collaborate with surgeons and product teams to translate mathematical solutions into practical tools.

Ensure your algorithms perform reliably in
regulated or high-stakes environments
(medical devices, aerospace, automotive, defense).

Who this role suits

  • You are strong mathematically: geometry, optimization, transforms, linear algebra, and enjoy deterministic and stochastic optimization like least squares, gradient descent, RANSAC, and simulated annealing.
  • You write
    solid C++ (mandatory) and maybe Python
    , and ideally have touched tools like Ceres Solver.
  • You prefer building practical solutions over writing theoretical papers. You don't crumble when someone challenges your assumptions, and you can work independently while playing nicely with a small team of PhD-level researchers.

Nice-to-haves:

  • CUDA, Open3D, real-time systems experience, embedded GPU work
  • Experience with medical imaging, robotics, or surgical tech

Work environment

  • Location:
    Paris, on-site (some remote possible, but surgeries aren't on Zoom).
  • Team:
    4 researchers with backgrounds in deep learning, geometry, and optimization.
  • Cross-functional:
    close collaboration with software, product, and surgical teams.
  • Comfortable observing surgeries.
