Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Concurrent CDI Specialist to support a high-impact improvement project at a large, complex healthcare facility. This is a high-volume, fast-paced contract role requiring strong ICU clinical experience, expert-level CDI knowledge, and the ability to work independently while maintaining compliant query practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform concurrent CDI reviews only (no mortality reviews)
Review 14–19 complex inpatient charts per day
6–8 new admissions
Remaining re-reviews
Issue 2–4 compliant queries per chart
- Maintain 91%–95% query response rate
- Participate in PSI, HAC, and quality initiatives
- Engage in DRG mismatch resolution when CDI and coding disagree
- Follow established query escalation processes for delayed responses
Complete monthly audits (6 total):
3 charts with queries
3 charts without queries
Support backlog reduction following leadership transition
Qualifications:
Certifications & Licensure:
- Active CDI certification
- Active RN license
- Compact RN license required
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years ICU bedside experience
- Prior CDI contract experience strongly preferred
- Experience in large healthcare systems (500+ beds)
- Background in Level 1 Trauma, Teaching Hospitals, ICU, and Burns
- Strong knowledge of compliant query practices
- Proven ability to quickly adapt and perform independently in complex environments
Systems Used (Required):
- EPIC
- 3M 360 CAC

Schedule:
Monday–Friday
- Core hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST
Flexible start time between 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM CST (may vary daily)
Work Environment: Fully Remote
