Position Summary We are seeking a Mechanical Supervisor for a floating photovoltaic plant on a lake south of Paris. Start date: mid-January. Engagement type: temporary freelance (project-based duration). Site presence required: minimum 2 visits per week; the Project Director will travel approximately twice per month.Your mission: to ensure the unloading and installation of the floating structure and anchoring systems comply with drawings, technical specifications, and safety standards; to anticipate and resolve deviations; and to report progress through photos and periodic reports. You will coordinate with the French client and the international subcontractor.Essential requirements: Native French and B2 level English; immediate availability; experience in industrial environments or construction sites.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise the mechanical assembly of the floating structure and auxiliary components, adhering to the design, specifications, and construction sequence.Monitor the unloading and handling of both company and client materials.Verify the installation of anchors: alignment, depth, tension, and compliance with engineering and safety standards.Record daily progress, identify deviations or risks, and propose solutions in coordination with the Project Director.Control the quality of mechanical activities: integrity, fastenings, connections, and material condition.Prepare weekly reports including photos, milestones, incidents, and project needs.Coordinate in French with the client, technical, and logistics teams, ensuring traceability of decisions.Oversee on-site safety, particularly on floating platforms and in the aquatic environment.Technical Profile & ExperienceTechnical background in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Energy, or equivalent with a foundation in structural assembly.Minimum 5 years of experience supervising steel structures, photovoltaic, wind power, floating platforms, or industrial projects.Practical knowledge of assembly, fastenings, connections, dimensional control, and quality verification.Familiarity with aquatic environments or specialized logistics for large-volume materials is desirable.Ability to interpret drawings, checklists, quality protocols, and HSE procedures.Document management: autonomous preparation of technical reports, photo reports, and milestone tracking.Digital proficiency: reporting tools, site applications, Excel/Drive, and technical documentation.Personal CompetenciesAutonomy in making technical decisions and maintaining work pace.Rigor and technical judgment to assess risks and prioritize actions.Clear communication in French and B2 level English for remote coordination.Ability to build client relationships, maintain agreements, and manage expectations.Preventive mindset and safety orientation for operations, floating platforms, and materials.Organizational skills in documentation, activity tracking, and photo records.Proactivity in anticipating problems and closing out actions.Professionalism and reliability: punctuality, commitment fulfillment, and consistent reporting quality.Requirements & ConditionsNative French and minimum B2 English.Site presence: 2 times per week.Freelance engagement with valid billing in France.Start: mid-January; duration linked to the project (approx. 5-6 months).Local mobility for lake site and occasional meetings.Valid HSE certifications.Verifiable experience with references and examples of previous reports.
