Context:

The mission of the Business Division New Development and Transformation (BD NDT) is to innovate and develop new technologies, products, digital solutions in connection with the new areas in which Axens wishes to expand and in connection with the move to ecological transition.

The issues of footprint reduction encourage Axens to develop carbon-free solutions. In this context, Axens is position itself on the carbon capture and usage.

To support this new development and its deployment, the BD NDT is looking for a Technology Development Engineer reporting hierarchically to the Technology Development Manager CCUS.

Missions:

She/He contributes to the development of a consistent CCU offer by Axens through the following:

Technical and competitive intelligence on CCUS. Identification of commercial or technology (development) opportunities for Axens on CCU, potentially leading to partnerships. Critical assessment of CO2 capture or valorization pathways. Source of proposals on the CCU value chain in relation with IFPEN’ development strategy. Participate to the development of Axens’ offer on CCU.

Main Activities:

Capture intelligence on new projects and competition, alliances in the CCUS field, intelligence on IP in the CCU domain. Perform critical assessment of CO2 capture or valorization pathways. Instruction on CO2 capture technologies (DAC, CLC). Instruction on CO2 conversion technologies (electrolysis, mineralization, etc.). Develop industrial partnerships. Follow regulation change. Contribute to building a coherent CCUS offer for Axens in relation with Technology Development Manager CCU and Product Line Low Carbon Solutions in TTS. Contribute to the promotion of Axens’ offer on CCU. Periodic reporting on the progress of her/his activities.

Knowledge and Required Level:

Education in science, master or PhD degree. Knowledge and critical look on R&D activities. First experience in chemistry, refining, gas treatment. Good knowledge of Axens’ technologies. Fluent in English. Good knowledge of Axens’ strategy and market expectations is a plus.

Associated Skills:

Autonomy in work scheduling. Rigor and critical eye for analysis and comparison of scientific data in publications. Multitasking ability, with different topics followed at the same time. Information gathering and sense of synthesis, to share information with the Technology Development Manager CCU. Creativity, prospective view for future applications or value chain schemes. Availability for short-term travelling.
