About the Company

We're on the hunt for an experienced and highly driven Senior Backend Developer to join our client's team. They are dedicated to empowering organizations to leverage the power of community engagement. They have developed a platform that enables the creation of engaging and entertaining ambassador programs for customers. In just two years, this platform has emerged as a leader, utilized by thousands of organizations to enhance their community building efforts, which in turn boosts customer acquisition, user-generated content, and retention rates.

As a compact team, members often wear multiple hats and tackle a variety of challenges. On the technical side, they look for an experienced professional who is adept at identifying issues and devising solutions. They primarily use TypeScript and focus on building scalable systems to ensure ongoing improvements on a robust foundation. While it's not necessary to be familiar with all their tools, a solid understanding of JavaScript fundamentals and experience in developing scalable infrastructure and backend solutions are crucial.


Company's Tech Stack: Typescript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Redis, Rockset, AWS, Next.js

Responsibilities

  • Develop the backend components for a range of user-focused features.
  • Improve the performance of databases and overall infrastructure.
  • Enhance the observability, monitoring, and alerting systems to improve response to operational incidents.
  • Expand the capacity of our client's service through both architectural modifications and infrastructural enhancements.
  • Improve the Developer Experience (DX) to significantly boost team productivity.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in node.js and SQL databases.
  • Experience working on systems with a lot of traffic.
  • Experience in a product-focused startup (B2B2C, fintech, entertainment, consumer-facing platform)
  • You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced company with loosely defined requirements.
  • Based in Europe.

Hiring Process

  • Hiring Manager Interview
  • 2-hour take-home test
  • 1-hour architecture design interview - address a given problem by designing a system, using Excalidraw
  • 45-minute interview with the CEO

  • A salary of $75K - $125K / year + equity
  • Work in Paris office or from wherever you're based in Europe
