Job Summary

The Market Finance Senior Consultant serves as the key financial business partner with Commercial Markets leaders to support the optimization of financial outcomes of the business. The position will be the financial liaison to the business, working to educate leaders on all matters related to financial performance and supporting activities to drive performance. This position will play an active role in developing annual budget/forecast as well as in analyzing monthly business performance to provide business insight and actionable advice. This position will report to Market Finance Lead and will lead the function of providing business partner and analysis support to business leaders.

Key Responsibilities/Duties – what you will be doing

Partner with accounting department to ensure accurate and timely close on a monthly basisMonthly P&L analysis in identifying Risks and OpportunitiesDrive P&L forecast and planning work and manage business segment expensesSupport bottom's up development for forecasts and annual budgetsSupport Pricing/Bid/Rate Filing analyses and validate key assumptionsResearch, analyze, validate, and prepare data for use in identification and execution of strategic initiativesParticipate in periodic Monthly Operating Review and other financial performance reviews with both internal/external audience on a needed basis.Oversee ad hoc analysis in measuring effectiveness of various marketing programs including but not limited to direct marketing efforts for Open Enrollments,Understand and drive transparency and performance on metrics in service areas such as care management and operationsOperation metrics include Service Quality and Productivity metricsCare Management metrics include Service utilizationPerform what-if scenario analysis regarding business model, evaluate trade off, e.g., broker vs direct sales and influence decisions based on findings.Support management of medical cost trend and gross margin improvement opportunitiesAnalyze the impact of contracts and support negotiations, as required, in driving market performanceIdentify areas for continuous improvementsCompetitor benchmarking and opportunity identificationQuantify financial impact of risks per Enterprise Risk ManagementOther duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications – what you need to perform the job

Education, Certification and Licensure

Bachelor’s degree or ASA recommended. Master’s degree or FSA preferred.

Experience (minimum years required):

10+ years of relevant health plan experience with responsibility in driving financial outcomesBusiness Knowledge-Demonstrates an understanding of business operations with the goal of becoming the spokesperson for your assigned areaExperience in working in fast paced, matrixed environment
