Regional Policy Outreach and Engagement Manager

The International Potato Center (CIP) is searching an outstandingand experienced candidate as Regional Policy Outreach and Engagement Manager forour hosted organization, the Wyss Academy for Nature in the region.
The Wyss Academyfor Nature at the University of Bern brings together scientists, businessleaders, policymakers, and communities to co-design innovative solutions topressing, interconnected problems such as climate change, biodiversity loss,land use change, and rising inequality. Our vision is to achieve a just andsustainable world in which nature conservation and human wellbeing reinforceeach other. To this end, our evolving institution – comprising four RegionalStewardship Hubs, in Europe, South America, East Africa and Southeast Asia –connects creative minds to jointly research, develop, implement, and empowertechnical, social, economic, institutional, and policy innovations at theinterface of nature and people.
About the role: theselected candidate will contribute to a systematic, targeted, and activefollow-up of topical issues that are connected and relevant to the work of theWyss Academy and require some type of policy engagement to reach the intendedimpact. The selected candidate will be part of the policy outreach activitiesof the Global Policy Outreach and Synthesis Center Unit of the Wyss Academy forNature. This position will be based in Lima, Peru and will report to the RegionalStewardship Hub South America Director.
Keyresponsibilities:
Establish mechanisms to support the knowledge-uptake by otherpolicy-makers and –shapers and other stakeholders relevant for the promotion ofa new social contract with nature
Design and coordinate policy engagement activities and accompany WyssAcademy staff at the SAM Hub in their implementation, e.g. in publicconsultations, thematic working groups as well as with relevant actorsinfluencing politics
Represent Wyss Academy in relevant policy dialogues (working groups,conferences)
Provide advice to the Hub’s Director regarding the policy outreach andengagement processes at local, national and regional scale.
Become the liaison between the SAM Hub team and the Wyss Academy global PolicyOutreach and Engagement Team.
Facilitate the SAM Hub contribution to the global initiatives lead bythe global Policy Outreach and Synthesis Center unit.
Comply with applicable health and safety CIP policies and procedures.
Requirements
What are we looking for?
At least 8 years of experience in a similarposition, focusing on policy monitoring, policy advocacy and policy outreach.
Proven expertise in sustainable developmentpolitics, multilateral and bilateral policy in South America
Clear understanding of the current debate onsustainable development at the different policy scales Wyss Academy works inSouth America
Competencies: teamworking, independent, solution-oriented,proactive, creativity, cause-oriented, human-centered mindset, systems thinker,analytical thinking.
Excellent communication and networking skillsand fluency in Spanish and English both written and oral. Working knowledge ofPortuguese and French are an asset.
