What You'll Do

Assumes all responsibility for loan files submitted for 2nd level review as test case review for new and upskilling experienced Underwriters to ensure following policies and procedures and that quality of underwriting is sufficient to be able to sell all loans on the Secondary Market. Supports solutions and training on deficiencies discovered by pre and post review by QC, Aggregators and Government Insuring, including the full file audit reviews completed by VA and FHAAs a Proficiency / Floater Underwriter, you will provide coverage for team members who are on PTO, wellness time and/or short term absence also assisting with overflow. In addition, during high volume initial submissions, you may potentially underwrite loan files which will be re-assigned to a Production Underwriter for clearing conditions and final approval. The Proficiency / Floater Underwriter is responsible to manage the co-worker’s pipeline, which may include review of loans which have been resubmitted and prepare for final approval. The Proficiency / Floater Underwriter should be highly skilled in all automated underwriting systems, Desktop Originator, Loan Prospector and each investor's automated systems. The Proficiency / Floater Underwriter is expected to have a comprehensive knowledge of underwriting and qualifying guidelines of all FNMA & FHLMC, Non-Agency, FHA, VA & USDA loans.Responsible for providing quality and consistent underwriting of mortgage loans, focusing on all loans, to ensure compliance with appropriate company standardsAssesses the potential risk of loan applicants, including current and past credit and job history, ensures that all mortgage applications are complete, accurate, and fall within acceptable guidelinesProvides high quality customer service, including review underwriting in a competitive time frame.Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum 5 years of experience in the mortgage/financial industry.Preferably 3 years' experience in training, loan file review and management of all training with underwriting department.3 years' experience underwriting VA / FHA loans with full working knowledge of all guidelines.3 years' experience government manual underwriting5 years of full practical knowledge with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guidelines5 years front line production underwriting5 years Automated Underwriting Software: {DU/LP}Full working knowledge of appraisals requirementsMust fully understand complex loans transactions, and be highly proficient in reviewing and analyzing all levels of individual and business income tax returns.Proficient in communicating to individuals areas that required additional training, areas of weakness and strengths.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

This position is considered a non-exempt position for purposes of wage-hour law, which means that you will be required to keep a time record and will be eligible for overtime pay.
