We’re looking for a Chief Accountant to join our Finance team in Rungis, France on a permanent basis.  

The Chief Accountant will play a pivotal role in driving the financial health and performance of Westfalia Fruit. As a key member of the 5-person finance team, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial accounting, including management accounts, variance analysis, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will lead the team to achieve company and individual performance goals, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data. 

Responsibilities include: 

• Oversee the daily accounting tasks of the team, including reviewing accounts and data entry. 

• Ensure adherence to French accounting standards, Group accounting system, and timetables. 

• Monitor and review accounting entries, bank reconciliations, VAT control and cash flow. 

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including trial balances and group reporting. 

• Work with the Finance and Management Controller on budgeting, monitoring and comparing forecasts. 

• Review and improve accounting processes where necessary. 

• Participate in the implementation of D365 software and automation of processes, including assisting the team with the transition to the new system. 

• Supporting statutory auditors in their reviews. 

Requirements

Experience we look for: 

Essential 

• Qualified accountant  

• Fluency in French and English 

• Previous experience of working within a commercial finance environment 

Desirable 

• Experience of the fresh produce industry would be beneficial 

• Previous experience of working with D365 would be advantageous but not essential 

• Proactive and able to use own initiative to problem solve 

• Previous line management experience
