Working as a core member of our France engineering team, the Geotechnical Engineer will undertake site characterization and geophysical studies for the design and installation of offshore wind farms and other subsea structures such as platforms and cables. What you will be doing.
Lead or assist geotechnical engineering projects for our clients within agreed timeframe, costs, and quality standards. Assist project teams with technical document reviews. This position will support the transport and installation of subsea and offshore structures and cables. Undertake site characterization studies and analysis of geotechnical data and preparation of reports for site-specific leg penetration analysis. Support survey data acquisition (geotechnical and geophysical) activities and undertake GIS (SIG) and cable route definition studies. Undertake basic geotechnical design and conduct offshore cable protection assessments. Contribute to business development activity by preparing tenders and proposals. Collaborate with the other geoscience departments or disciplines of ABL Group on other offshore renewable projects. The role is based in Paris (75013), France and the applicant will have the right to work and reside in France. This role is office based but flexibility and willingness to travel, as well as readiness for onshore / offshore assignments at short notice locally and globally for periods, would be required.
What we are looking for.
Ideally, you will be an experienced Geotechnical Engineer who has worked on offshore projects before or you could be looking to break into the offshore sector. More specifically, we are looking for the following: Educated to degree level in Civil / Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or another related subject. (Soil Mechanics/ Geotechnical would be preferable). At least 3 years worth of experience as a geotechnical engineer. Experience in conducting geophysical surveys and / or geotechnical data acquisition. Experience of using one of the following programmes: ESRI ArcGIS, MATLAB, Visual Basic, Plaxis, GRLWEAP, gINT. Experience of undertaking jack-up leg penetration or subsea cable route definition analysis desirable.Fluent in English and French.
