I. Background

The InternationalPotato Center (CIP) seeks a qualified candidate to assist the National Policiesand Strategies Initiative (NPS) Kenya team in the coordination of policyengagement and learning events, content creation, and messaging under thesupervision of the Senior ProgramCoordinator. 

II. Objective

This consultancywill support the work of the NPS team in Kenya in the planning and coordinationof policy engagement events and in the drafting of knowledge products such asblogs, and social media content.He/shewill also work closely withCIP’s communicationsteam to support ongoing communication efforts within the NPS initiative and/orthe sweet potato SSA program at CIP. The consultant will follow through oncommunication-related administrative tasks geared toward content generation anddissemination with colleagues and partners. 

Specific tasks will include:

·Helpingto organize NPS partner engagement events.

·Writingblogs and content creation for NPS work in Kenya.

·Photographyto capture and promote ongoing work as well as during project meetings.

·Preparingsocial media posts for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram in line with CIP/CGIARcommunication and Knowledge management policies including scheduling socialmedia posts by use of Buffer and other social media scheduling tools.

·Assistin developing metadata, uploading and updating NPS communication and trainingmaterials on to various platforms including the CIP website and other partnerplatforms.

·Performany other duties as assigned by the Senior Program Coordinator andCommunications Specialist

·Ongoingsupport on social media, media, content creation

·Photographyand Videography

·Organizingpartner engagement events in Kenya

·Atleast two NPS blogs drafted and published.


Requirements

IV. Selection Criteria

·Bachelor’sdegree in communication, Journalism, Media Studies; Information Science, PublicRelations, Marketing, or a related area.

·Atleast 2 years of experience.

·Specialtyin Development Communications.

·Highlevel of computer literacy, accuracy, and attention to detail.

·Knowledgeof WordPress, MS Office, Photoshop, and Illustrator

·Experiencein writing an article in a newsroom setting is an asset.

·Highlyeffective use of social media, networking, and securing information andexpertise.

·Excellentinterpersonal and networking skills and the ability to effectively communicatewith a wide range of individuals through email and in person.

·Excellentorganizational, presentation and communication skills (including an excellentcommand in English both oral and written).

·Highlyproactive and consistently approaches work with energy and a positive,constructive attitude.

·Goodreport writing and communication skills.

·Highlyproficient in English (both spoken and written).

V. Time frame

·Consultancycontract will be for 90 days.
