Short Description of the Role:

Work at the forefront of automotive innovation with ZF, one of the world's leading automotive suppliers. As an Engineering Manager within our SCALAR team, you will lead software development efforts that drive the future of mobility. Scalar, ZF's advanced Fleet Orchestration Platform, leverages AI and real-time analytics to redefine fleet management. Your leadership will not only contribute to the platform's success but also the transformation of the transportation sector towards greater efficiency and sustainability.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Collaboration: Oversee internal and external R&D teams, fostering a bottom-up culture where team members feel empowered to share ideas and make technical decisions, with strategic guidance and final decisions provided by you when necessary.

  • Training & Development: Manage training programs and facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions, acting as a strong mentor and coach to enhance team skills and foster a collaborative learning environment.

  • Project Management: Lead project management efforts, defining resources, overseeing progress, and ensuring high-quality development practices. You'll work closely with the product owner to realize the product backlog and serve as the team's voice in communications.

  • Strategic Planning: Participate in the development of R&D strategies and provide input on technical decisions to ensure alignment with company goals. Analyze, propose, and manage project budgets, technologies, and resources efficiently.

  • Quality & Standards: Maintain high development quality, adhering to provided guidance and standards, ensuring the team's efficiency, happiness, and addressing their needs proactively.

 

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Software Development, or a related field.

  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years in team management, with a preference for candidates having 15 to 20 years of experience in software development, especially in web technologies.

  • Technical Proficiency:

    • Development Environments & Tools: Proficient with Visual Studio, VS Code, and Postman for development and testing. Experience with Jira and Confluence for project management and documentation.

    • Cloud & DevOps: Extensive knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and proficient in using Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration. Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.

    • Programming & Frameworks: Strong experience in software development with a focus on .NET and React. Experience with multi-disciplinary projects is highly valued, showcasing versatility across different tech stacks.

    • Additional Technologies: Knowledge of serverless computing, infrastructure as code (Terraform, Helm), and database management (DynamoDB, PostgreSQL) is advantageous. Understanding of AWS services such as VPCs, Gloo Edge, Route53, EKS, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, Lambda, SQS, and more, demonstrates a comprehensive grasp of cloud solutions.

  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record in project management, team leadership, and the ability to foster a team's growth in a fast-paced environment. Must be a proactive, organized, punctual, and responsible leader with strong supervisory, interpersonal, and technical skills.

  • Communication: Excellent communication and written skills, with the ability to manage a multinational team setting effectively.
