Position: Cathodic Systems Engineer

Mission:
  • Design Integrated Cathodic Protection (CP) systems (and associated monitoring) for onshore plants, offshore & floaters topside facilities and pipelines related to Oil and Gas industry, Refinery processes, Urea and Ammonia plants. Provide specialized assistance and technical support to the work of personnel assigned to cathodic protection systems site operations, ensuring that approved specifications/procedures are complied with and that productivity is optimised, whilst guaranteeing compliance with safety procedures.
  • Ensure the start-up and commissioning of the designed CP Systems (when required by the project).
Tasks:

The Engineer executes the activities within own area of responsibility, ensuring the compliance with the QA/QC and HSE requirements. Tasks include:

A - Know How, Research and Development Technology and Commercial Support:
  • Research and develop innovative cathodic protection techniques, materials and approaches with the aim of reduce corrosion rate and prevent the corrosion deterioration of metallic structures in contact with any forms of "electrolytically" conducting environments; environments containing enough ions to conduct electricity such as soils, seawater and basically all natural waters
B-Feasibility Phase
  • Realize feasibility studies to propose cathodic protection systems to withstand Projects corrosion issue
C-Bidding phase/Commercial proposal development
  • Review the received documentation and elaboration of the input data related to cathodic protection system
  • Select the suitable CP system (sacrificial, ICCP)
  • Prepare the technical qualifications related to CP
  • Perform technical evaluation of the offers received from Vendors related to the supply of CP and monitoring systems for not estimated in-house items
  • Preparation of material quantities and weight estimations
  • Estimation of engineering manhour and material cost
D - Project Execution and Operational Phase
  • Review the received documents and elaboration of the input data related to CP
  • Definition of both technical and economic solutions suitable for engineering of CP systems and issuing of documents, in compliance with the contractual requirements
  • Select the suitable CP system (sacrificial, ICCP)
  • Perform detailed design of cathodic protection and monitoring systems
  • Prepare the technical qualifications related to CP
  • Prepare the specifications for materials procurement and technical purchase requisitions related to CP materials, installation, inspection, system testing and commissioning
  • Perform technical bid evaluation of the offers received from Vendors related to the supply of CP and monitoring systems
  • Review the documentation prepared by CP Vendors
  • Perform technical audits of cathodic protection system production Subcontractors
  • Witness the Pre-Qualification Test performed by Subcontractors related to the CP materials
E-Construction and Commissioning
  • Assist installation operations (when necessary)
  • Solve the technical problems and non-conformities issues related to CP works
  • Ensure the start-up and commissioning of the designed CP Systems (when required by the project)
F - Support to Vendor Management
  • Support Vendor Management for selection of Vendors and for performance of technical audits in the Subcontractor cathodic protection system production
