Description

MISSIONS / SERVICE DIMENSIONS

The Topside Structure / Weight Control Engineer ensures the structural integrity and weight compliance of FPSO topside modules throughout the EPSCC phases, Key missions include:

  • Monitor and validate structural design and weight control activities performed by contractors and vendors.
  • Ensure topside weight and center of gravity (CoG) evolution remains within marine and structural constraints.
  • Assist the Topsides Structural Lead in managing technical interfaces and compliance with project specifications.
  • Contribute to the traceability and consistency of structural and weight-related decisions across engineering phases.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical clarifications, and anomaly resolution processes.
  • Promote & comply in all activities with applicable safety instructions and other company HSE rules.

ACTIVITIES

  • Review contractor deliverables including structural drawings, calculation notes, FEM analyses, and lifting/marine operation reports.
  • Track and validate weight data and CoG evolution using dedicated weight control tools and registers.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews (e.g., model reviews, HAZID/HAZOP) and coordinate with process, layout, piping, and marine teams.
  • Interface with contractors and subcontractors to ensure constructability and compliance with structural and weight requirements.
  • Support the Topsides Structural Lead in managing deviations, changes, and anomaly reporting related to topside structure and weight control.

CONTEXT & ENVIRONMENT

  • The Venus FPSO will operate in ultra-deepwater at roughly 3,000 m and is designed to process 160,000 bbl./d of oil with advanced systems to manage large volumes of associated gas, which will be re-injected to maintain reservoir pressure. The unit will be permanently spread-moored using a 16-line mooring system, engineered to ensure station-keeping in relatively harsh Atlantic conditions. The development includes up to 40 subsea wells tied back to the FPSO via the subsea architecture.
  • International and multi-cultural environment.
  • Position permanently based in EPSCC Contractor premises.
  • Frequent mission aboard.
