Senior HV/MV Electrical Grid Connection Engineer

• Assess the connection capacity of MV and HV networks
• Identify the most relevant connection areas and injection points
• Define the connection strategy based on technical, economic, and scheduling constraints
• Conduct or oversee load flow, short-circuit, and harmonic studies
• Verify the technical feasibility of BESS projects connected to the grid
• Ensure that solutions comply with applicable standards and grid codes
• Monitor connection applications with network operators
• Analyze and challenge Technical and Financial Proposals (PTFs)
• Negotiate connection terms, costs, and timelines
• Monitor operating agreements through to project security
• Provide expertise to the development and engineering teams
• Make connection-related decisions based on project priorities
• Anticipate regulatory and technical developments affecting the grid
• Contribute to discussions with network operators regarding changes to the connection framework
• Reporting to the Managing Director

Requirements

• Engineering degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
• At least 10 years of experience in electrical grid and grid connection matters
• Thorough knowledge of how electrical network operators operate, including RTE and Enedis
• Expertise in resolving MV/HV grid connection issues
• Ability to plan connection strategies and assess grid connection capacity
• Ability to lead technical discussions with network operators and advocate for a connection strategy
• Proficiency in, or strong ability to oversee, electrical studies including load flow, short-circuit, and harmonic studies
• Ability to analyze and challenge a Technical and Financial Proposal (PTF)
• Thorough knowledge of applicable standards and grid codes, particularly European requirements
• Professional proficiency in English
• Ability to lead technical discussions with network operators
• High degree of autonomy in managing responsibilities
• Ability to make decisions and resolve techno-economic trade-offs
• Strong interpersonal skills when working with engineering consultancies, engineers, and network operators
