Legal Counsel

Context

Artificial Intelligence is a core enabler of Schneider Electric’s ambition to become a software-led, data-driven company. Embedded across our products, platforms and services, AI supports industrial automation, energy optimization and next-generation digital experiences.

Within the Digital Trust & Software Legal team, you will provide practical, business-oriented legal advice on Artificial Intelligence and support the global deployment of compliant, responsible and secure AI-enabled solutions.

Your role

Reporting to the General Counsel – Digital Trust & Software, with functional alignment to AI Legal, you will operate globally from Europe.

You will work closely with the AI Hub, Business Units, Data and Software teams, and the wider Group Legal community.

Localization

This role is based in France, in Rueil-Malmaison or Grenoble preferably.

It is also opened in Spain, in Barcelona.

There is no relocation for this role.

Your missions

• Provide comprehensive legal support on AI-related matters, including regulatory compliance, data privacy, data usage and governance, and liability considerations.
• Contribute to the development and deployment of internal policies and guidelines related to AI usage and governance.
• Provide guidance to ensure AI initiatives comply with applicable laws, regulations and internal standards, and support operationalization initiatives led by the AI Hub.
• Support the drafting and updating of templates, negotiate AI-related clauses and review contracts involving AI features, data usage and third-party AI services.
• Work with Product, Engineering and Business teams to provide practical legal input on AI features, identify and mitigate risks early in development, and contribute to a legal-by-design approach.
• Monitor developments in AI regulation and related areas globally, and support the preparation of internal updates and guidance.
• Support the development of internal training materials on AI legal topics and contribute to awareness initiatives within Legal and Business teams.
• Escalate complex or high-risk matters as appropriate, in coordination with other functions of the Group Legal team.

Your profile

• You hold a Master’s degree in Law from a recognized university.
• You have 2–5 years of legal experience in technology / IT law, data protection / privacy and commercial contracting.
• Meaningful exposure to AI or data-driven technologies and Software / SaaS environments would be a strong asset.
• You have a strong interest in emerging AI regulatory frameworks and can interpret and operationalize regulation into contracts, templates and business guidance; hands‑on exposure to the EU AI Act or comparable data regimes would be an asset.
• You have experience supporting business teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluent English is required; French, Spanish or other European languages would be strong assets.

• Working understanding of how AI systems are built, trained, fine‑tuned, deployed and monitored, and of the main building blocks of AI solution architecture.

For this France based position, the expected pay range is EUR 63.200 - EUR 94.800 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives (annual bonus) at target. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located in France. Our pay ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Individual’s compensation is positioned within the range based on several factors such as knowledge, job-related skills, experience, potential and relevant education or training.
