Senior Sustainability Packaging Project Manager

Villeneuve d'Ascq, France

In every role, McCainers are ambitious, curious, and passionate about creating exceptional work experiences - together. With a customer-first mindset, we make doing business with McCain easy.

About the role.

As Senior Sustainability Packaging Project Manager, you will play a key role in driving packaging sustainability across GB & EMENA, while contributing to McCain's global sustainability reporting and governance.

This is a highly cross-functional role combining sustainability, packaging, data management, reporting and project coordination. You will ensure the quality and consolidation of packaging sustainability data across regions, support global reporting and dashboards, and coordinate the implementation of sustainability roadmaps across Europe and Great Britain.

You will work closely with regional and global teams, influencing stakeholders and ensuring that sustainability commitments are translated into concrete actions and measurable progress.

What you’ll be doing.

  • Coordinate the collection, validation and consolidation of packaging sustainability data from GB & EMENA and other regions globally, ensuring high-quality data for internal and external reporting.

  • Develop and maintain sustainability reporting, dashboards and datasets, helping turn complex data into clear insights for decision-making.

  • Coordinate the execution of packaging sustainability roadmaps across Europe and Great Britain, ensuring actions are progressing against agreed timelines and objectives.

  • Monitor relevant packaging sustainability regulations, including PPWR, EPR and national requirements, and support the assessment of their impact on McCain's packaging portfolio.

  • Ensure packaging sustainability data is accurately maintained across internal systems, including PLM, SAP and other databases.

  • Identify opportunities to reduce the environmental impact of packaging through materials, design, data and supply chain improvements.

  • Collaborate with Sustainability, Regulatory, Procurement, Quality, Operations, Marketing, Packaging and IT teams, as well as suppliers and external partners.

  • Contribute to the deployment of global sustainable packaging guidelines, tools and training across regions.

  • Support the continuous improvement of sustainability data management and reporting processes, including the development of digital solutions such as Power BI and AI-enabled tools.

What you’ll need to be successful.

  • A degree in Packaging, Materials Science, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related technical field.

  • 7+ years of relevant experience, ideally combining packaging sustainability, packaging engineering and/or sustainability reporting within FMCG or another relevant industry.

  • Proven experience working with packaging sustainability data and reporting.

  • Strong analytical skills and a genuine ability to work comfortably with numbers, datasets and data manipulation.

  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power BI or other data visualisation/database tools is an advantage, with an appetite to further develop your digital capabilities.

  • Experience coordinating projects or roadmaps, with the ability to ensure actions are delivered across multiple stakeholders and regions.

  • Knowledge of packaging sustainability regulations such as PPWR, EPR and national regulatory frameworks, or the ability to quickly understand and assess evolving regulatory requirements.

  • Packaging materials expertise is an advantage but deep technical knowledge of materials is not essential.

  • Strong communication, organisation and influencing skills, with the confidence and assertiveness to engage stakeholders, follow up on actions and drive progress without direct authority.

  • Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities and bring structure to complex topics.

  • Fluent English is essential.

You will join the GB & EMENA R&D Packaging Team, working closely with the Senior Manager Packaging GB & EMENA and Global Sustainable Packaging Lead.
