Chief Space Officer

Darwin Recruitment are currently looking for a Chief Space Officer on behalf of a business in Rennes that was founded in 2015 that will revolutionize space logistics, both in terms of transporting satellites and cleaning debris in orbit. Their plasma propulsion concept, a legacy of technologies used for more than 30 years in the scientific world of particle accelerators, makes it possible to obtain record thrusts with unrivalled energy efficiency. Protected by several patents, this technology allows them to position themselves as a supplier of the "last space mile" by recovering satellites from their delivery orbit to quickly bring them to their working orbit. Several personalities from the space world support this project, and one of them is part of the management team. Currently numbering six people, their workforce will rapidly evolve over the next 6 months following their first fundraising.
Your missions
- Take charge of their first space mission, both on the technical, budgetary, logistical and regulatory aspects
- Establish, with management approval, the space engineering team that will assist you in this task
- Be a driving force in their relations with space institutions (ESA, CNES, etc.)
- Promote to the community, during scientific conferences and international exhibitions, the technology, the progress of the project, and the results obtained
- Participate in the drafting of new patents
- Recurring trips to be planned, in France and abroad.
Your training and experience
- Bac+5 (engineer/master) in complex systems engineering (aerospace or equivalent).
- You have 5 to 10 years of experience in the space field, including at least several experiences on successful missions and your relational network in the space field is substantial.
- Very good English essential.
