Company introduction:
A groundbreaking startup is addressing one of the most critical challenges of our time: climate change.
With an ambitious goal of removing a billion tons of CO2 by 2050, this company is developing the most energy-efficient and scalable Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology on the market.
Their innovative approach combines two CO2 desorption technologies to overcome the limitations of current processes, making large-scale deployment feasible without unsustainable energy, land, or water usage.
Job General scope:
Within the R&D team, you will play a vital role involving leading the scientific development and industrialization of ion-exchange membranes, a core component of the DAC process.
The Membrane Scientist will drive membrane design, sample production, and characterization, while also developing an industrialization strategy to support the scalability of the technology.
In collaboration with the CTO and the electrochemistry R&D team, the Membrane Scientist will contribute to key partnerships with external companies and research institutions to optimize membrane performance at scale.
Main Objectives:
- Conduct comprehensive literature reviews on ion-exchange membranes.
- Improve and innovate on membrane design for optimal performance.
- Produce and characterize membrane samples using advanced techniques (IR Spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, SEM, EDX, TGA, Zeta potential, EIS, etc.).
- Lead the industrialization and scale-up planning for membrane production.
- Support intellectual property development, including competitor benchmarking and IP generation.
Position Benefits:
- Permanent CDI position.
- The position will offer a very high level of autonomy and the opportunity to make a practical contribution to mitigating the climate crisis.
- Attractive package inclusive of shares options, health insurance, food ticket and transport
Qualification requirements:
- Advanced degree (PhD or MSc) in Polymer Chemistry, Electrochemistry, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in membrane development with a strong background in polymer science and expertise in synthesis and laboratory characterization.
- Experience with ion-exchange membranes will be a huge advantage
- Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities, with a focus on results and team collaboration.
- English proficiency required; French language skills are beneficial but not essential.
