Operations Director

Melium Consulting have been retained by one of the worlds leading confectionary manufacturers to identify and attract an Operations Director for their flagship manufacturing facility, based in Pau, France.

As the Operations Director, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the operations of their flagship site. You will be responsible for leading 600 full-time employees and ensuring that the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate a large team of production staff, including supervisors and line workers, to achieve production targets and quality standards.

• Develop and implement strategies to optimize production processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs while maintaining product quality.

• Collaborate closely with other departments, such as R&D, Supply Chain, and Quality Assurance, to ensure seamless coordination and execution of production plans.

• Establish and enforce strict safety protocols and procedures to create a safe working environment for all employees.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and eliminate waste.

• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and production metrics to track performance and identify areas for improvement.

• Manage budgetary and financial aspects of operations, including cost control, resource allocation, and capital expenditure planning.

• Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices to drive innovation and maintain our competitive edge in the market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

• Proven track record of at least 7 years in a senior operations management role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food or beverage industry.

• Leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve common goals

• Problem-solving abilities and a data-driven approach to decision-making.

• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality management systems, and safety regulations.

• Experience implementing lean manufacturing principles and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.

• Fluency in French and English; additional languages a plus.
