THE ROLE :



The Ethics & Compliance Department is responsible for compliance and regulatory matters for CMA CGM Group’s business globally in the following fields: ethics and business integrity (including fight against corruption as well as third parties’ risk assessment), “devoir de vigilance” (including human rights), trade compliance (embargos, export control, economic sanctions), personal data protection, competition law & tariffs regulatory.


The Regional Ethics & Compliance Manager will assist the Group Chief Compliance Officer who is based in CMA CGM Head Office (France) and the Management of the concerned Regional Offices to manage regulatory, ethics and compliance matters for the group entities in the regions.


In that capacity, the individual will work closely with its colleagues in the Head Office and the Regional Offices but also with the Group network of Ethics & Compliance referents worldwide, along with business, management, Legal and other internal support and control functions.


RESPONSIBILITIES :


The Regional Ethics & Compliance Manager will oversee and monitor compliance with regulatory requirements in relation to CMA CGM Group’s operations in the Africa and Levant regions.


The role involves performing the following primary functions:


  • Provide strategic leadership in the deployment of the values of the Group and its ethics & compliance program in the designated regions;
  • Actively promote the Group Code of ethics, Anticorruption code, Speak up system and related policies and procedures and new developments in law or regulation pertaining to compliance
  • Maintain the risk maps for the scope of activities up to date,
  • Implement the Group's annual ethics & compliance action plan, particularly in relation to the fight against corruption and the duty of care/slavery acts,
  • Draft and update compliance policies and application procedures,
  • Carry out due diligence on third parties with the support of local business
  • Conduct assessment interviews, propose pragmatic recommendations, prepare reports, ensure that corrective action plans are defined and implemented, validate the closure of certain matters,
  • Liaise closely with other internal functions to address compliance risks and support an integrated approach to compliance across the Group,
  • Help coordinate the 3 lines of defense,
  • Develop and implement communication strategy and compliance training programs to educate employees in the designated regions
  • Supervise and coordinate the management of reports, with appropriate follow-up,
  • Supervise the regulatory monitoring system at regional level, conduct impact analysis and disseminate any changes across the business,
  • Manage ongoing regulatory filings, ad hoc regulatory requests and regulatory controls. This includes liaising with regulators, coordinating responses internally and ensuring responses are appropriate and timely;
  • Conduct compliance risk assessments for third parties located in the regions (new suppliers, customers, partners of the regions) and liaise with the business to collect necessary information
  • Maintain records with respect to the ethics & compliance program
  • Participate in compliance projects under the global compliance workplan, support delivery of the work plan in the designated regions and manage special projects as assigned;
  • Manage, supervise and develop ethics & compliance ambassadors in the designated regions through training, communication and other appropriate support and work closely with the Group's network of Ethics & Compliance officers
  • Participate in the development of the IT and digital tools from a compliance standpoint,
  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of the Program by measuring and monitoring compliance activity and trends, participating or arranging for periodic compliance audits and collecting employee feedback on the program through surveys or other means
  • Build CMA CGM’s Group external reputation in the designated regions relating to its commitment to a culture of compliance, maintains appropriate visibility and involvement in the region’s ethics and compliance community.
  • Provide quality and timely input to compliance and management reporting on the operation and status of the ethics & compliance program in the designated region;
  • Work with and manage external counsel, as needed



PROFILE AND QUALIFICATIONS :


  • Graduate in law, compliance or economics.5-8 years' experience in a compliance function in a multinational, a law firm or aBig Four.
  • Strong listening skills
  • Communicates effectively and concisely.
  • Strong influencing skills.
  • Curious. Methodical.Problem-solving oriented, defining and applying agile and pragmatic solutions. Ability to analyse, summarise and react quickly and flexibly to management requests.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken English & French



PROFILE


  • Specialization in anti corruption is a plus
  • Background in Legal, Compliance or internal audit
  • At least 4 to 5 years experience in anti corruption


Based in Paris or Marseille with travels to consider. Not full remote job.
