About the Company - Our client is looking for a Process Safety Engineer to manage their two sites in France:
- A site of 73 people, based in Catenoy, in the Oise region, specializing in the manufacture of antioxidants.
- A site with 82 employees, based in Béthune, in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, specializing in the production of resins.
Both sites are classified as Seveso high threshold due to the nature of their activity. Production operates on a continuous 5x8 basis, with a summer shutdown to allow for annual maintenance of the installations and specific projects. Each site has a global HSE team of 4-5 people, of which you will be an integral part, while reporting directly to the Global Process Safety Manager based in the US. It is therefore essential to have a genuine desire to develop in an international context.
About the Role - Are you passionate about process safety and want to contribute to risk management in a multicultural and dynamic environment? Then join their team as a Process Safety Engineer. In this key role, you will provide expertise in process safety, by facilitating Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and Protective Layer Analyses (LOPA). You will be responsible for developing and ensuring the implementation of global process safety strategies, working closely with their local and international teams.
Responsibilities -
- Facilitation of PHAs and LOPAs:
- Plan, execute and report PHA/LOPA analyses in accordance with internal standards.
- Use Sphera Advanced Risk Assessment software to structure and capture data.
- Working with site managers to validate final reports.
- Documentation and management of process safety data:
- Identify and fill gaps in process safety information.
- Develop priority actions to resolve these gaps in collaboration with local teams.
- Risk management support and training:
- Offer specific training on process safety.
- Provide support for in-house manufacturing facilities and subcontractors.
- Development of solutions:
- Designing cost-effective actions to improve safety while controlling costs.
- Helping sites to document and inventory their safety systems.
Qualifications -
- Engineering degree in a technical discipline (chemical engineering strongly preferred).
- Minimum 5 years' experience in the chemical industry or similar sectors.
- Proven experience in PHA and LOPA facilitation (minimum 1 year).
- Familiarity with local process safety regulations (e.g. Seveso).
- Knowledge of international standards (NFPA, ANSI, API, ATEX, etc.).
- Ability to work with multicultural teams in a global context.
- Fluent French (written and spoken).
- Fluent English essential (international reports and exchanges).
- Leadership skills to guide local teams in safety management.
- Mobility and adaptability to meet the requirements of an international role.
- Autonomy to prioritize actions and monitor their implementation.
