**JOB PURPOSE**

The category innovation manager is responsible for the definition of the innovation strategy for the products and the services of a sub-domain of the category. He/She is in charge of building and maintaining a 3 year strategic plan. He/She initiates new concepts, launch new offers and manage the life cycle of the portfolio offers.

He/She has to take into account budget, delays and uncertainties inherent to its portfolio.

He/She has the responsibility of stage gate leaders / innovation managers (either hierarchical or functional)

The position also involves building partnerships with any relevant resources required for the success of the category. This is a role with a high international connection.

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**

PROJECTS PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT
- Support stages leaders / innovation managers in the evaluation and the validation of consumers desirability, commercial viability, technical feasibility at each step of the stage gate process by also taking into account the competitors’ environment.
- Guarantee consumers / technical / business knowledge for the sub-domain considered and pilot the associated knowledge sharing.
- Verify the consistency and the relevance of the Gate deliverables.
- Bring support for product / services claims.
- Ensure the strategy definition, the monitoring and the update of the 3 years plan of the Category sub domain considered.

PRODUCTS, MARKETS & CLIENTS KNOWLEDGE
- Integrate products knowledge (internal & from competition), markets knowledge and clients (direct and indirect) knowledge in the Category sub-domain for the 3 years plan definition and follow up.
- Guarantee the use of adapted innovation methodologies by relying on internal / external competencies.

COMMUNICATION & REPORTING
- Ensure communication and reporting of the portfolio management towards top management through dedicated committees and main stakeholders involved in the 3 years plan.

**This job requires closed collaboration with**:
INTERNAL:

- R&D lenses, Global Lens Engineering, Global Marketing, Medical Affairs, IP, Legal.
- Depending on the topic it is also possible to interact with Instruments, Supply Chain, Logistics, R&D Frame & Regional Marketing

EXTERNAL: Potential collaboration with universities and companies depending on the topic, in order to:

- Put in place partnerships to validate / demonstrate products benefits.
- Externalize parts of product / service development.

**CANDIDATE PROFILE**
- An advanced degree in science and/or business discipline with at least 10 years’ experience directly related to products and/or services is required.
- Extensive knowledge of Essilor Groups, products & services portfolio.
- Ability to build and stabilize processes within a highly matrixed organization.
- Able to work in an environment with a high level of ambiguity.
- Highly motivated and positive attitude, energy and leadership.
- Effective, articulate, and dynamic communication skills.
- Able to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and rom a wide and complex array of disciplines at all levels of the company, including R&D, Marketing, Key Accounts, Sales, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Quality, Production, Supply chain, Purchasing, Customer Service, Legal, etc.
- Comfortable in a highly international and multicultural work environment, appeal to develop network.
- Able to organize and synthesize thoughts to make clear and convincing presentations to executive level management.
- French & English language.
