**Job Description**:
You will be part of the 32-bit microcontroller business unit, and more specifically of the analog characterization team within the post-silicon validation team. This team oversees the validation and characterization of all analog IPs embedded in our 32-bit microcontrollers. Analog characterization engineering work involves specifying and developing tests to validate analog IPs. This includes designing the hardware board, configuring the microcontroller, automating measurements, collecting and analyzing data, and writing characterization reports presenting the IP's performance. As an apprentice analog characterization engineer, you will work with team members located in Nantes, Chandler (Arizona), Bangalore (India), and you will potentially be in contact with team members from other departments of the company around the world. Your mission will be to work on the measurement and analysis of clock jitter on the different clock sources of 32-bit microcontrollers (PLL, crystal oscillator, etc ). Indeed, clock sources are a key element of MCUs, guaranteeing CPU code execution at high frequencies (PLLs operate at frequencies over 1GHz), and also clocking analog and digital peripherals.

What are the different phases?

1. Understand the different types of Jitters (random, deterministic), relationship with phase noise measurement

2. Time and frequency domain analysis

3. In-depth analysis and study of different tools (EZJITT vs. phase noise spectrum)

4. Embedded Clock context: observability constraints (output clock and reference if applicable) and design for test solutions for accurate characterization

5. Impact of peripheral activity on the different types of jitters

6. Automation: Creation of a LabVIEW driver for the spectrum analyzer

7. Hands On: Measurements on a 32-bit microcontroller

What’s attractive about this opportunity?

This position will allow you to: - Contribute to improve our clock measurements and better understand what lies behind a frequency deviation. - Use high-end equipment and tools to determine what type of jitter affects the quality of the clock signal. - Hands-on with a real-life use case - Interaction with teams from different countries (USA, India, France)

Requirements/Qualifications:
Qualifications and Experience - 3rd cycle technical education in electronics with an interest in analog IPs and analog measurements. Competencies - Analog knowledge (IPs, measurements) such as PLL, crystal oscillator
- Knowledge of standard electronic laboratory equipment: power supply, signal generator, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer
- LabView test automation - C code embedded development - ARM Microcontroller (32bits) - French / English speaking Additional Competencies - LabView test automation Organizational skills: - Easy communicant, team spirit, curious, both analysis and synthesis spirit
