Agricultural Specialist

**Duties**:
Incumbent performs a range of duties including tracking and reporting on development in assigned commodity areas in the French agricultural sector; obtaining agricultural statistics and other market and trade related information from official and private industry sources, analyzing this information in order to establish detailed supply and distribution tables, and making the most accurate judgment possible on the overall market situation in France. The incumbent analyzes French agricultural issues and data within a European (EU) framework and consolidates these data with other EU Agricultural Specialists.
Incumbent monitors and interprets the effect of French agricultural policies on U.S. agricultural interests. In addition, the incumbent develops and maintains close contacts with major international and French agricultural companies, French farm and trade associations and cooperatives, and French Government Officials.

At least four years of experience in economic analysis and research or equivalent experience in the production, processing or marketing of agricultural commodities. (Grade 10 - Full performance).
At least two years of experience in economic analysis and research or equivalent experience in the production, processing or marketing of agricultural commodities. (Grade 8 - Training Level).
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Thorough knowledge of U.S., French, and EU agricultural policies pertaining to production, trade and consumption. Good knowledge of world agricultural production, trade, and consumption and global market trends. Knowledge of economic analytical tools and methodologies necessary for analysis.
- Education Requirements:
Master's degree in economics or related field with a preference for agriculture, food or Forestry is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to draft technical reports in French and in English. Ability to use word processing, spreadsheets, databases development to conduct statistical analyses. Ability to set priorities and work independently. Ability to develop and maintain an extensive range of contacts in governmental and private sector circles. Ability to plan, organize and execute complex research projects and prepare concise and accurate analytical reports.

**SALARY**: the **annual gross salary includes**: the profit-sharing allowance, the vacation allowance, the bonus allowance and the “Comité d’Entreprise” allowance.
**MEAL TICKETS**: Meal tickets have a face value of EUR 8.25/day. 60% of the daily amount is paid by the U.S. Government. An employee contribution of EUR 3.30 per ticket will be deducted in payroll. The number of meal tickets is limited to 202 workdays per year.
**TRANSPORTATION**:Employees are eligible for a reimbursement of 50% of the cost of public transportation passes purchased for commuting purposes.
**HOLIDAYS**: The U.S. Missions in France observe eleven U.S. holidays per year and up to ten French holidays.
**For EFMs**, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
