FairScope is on the hunt for a passionate and talented intern to join our team as an
Optical Engineer. Your primary mission will be to characterize the current optics of the
PlanktoScope and to develop new optical solutions to extend the observational capabilities of our instrument. Your success in this role will directly contribute to the innovation and enhancement of our products, enabling more precise and varied plankton observation.

**Responsibilities**:
**Current Optics Characterization**:
Evaluate the performance of the current PlanktoScope optics.. Analyze the limitations of the current optics in observing different plankton sizes.

**Development of Optical Variants**:
Propose and design innovative optical solutions for observing smaller (10um to 100um) and larger (200um to 500um) plankton. Collaborate with marine biology and microscopy experts to validate new designs.

**Testing and Validation**:
Establish test protocols to assess the performance of the new optical solutions. Analyze the results, make necessary adjustments to the designs if needed, and ensure the final validation of the optical solutions.

**Documentation and Reporting**:
Produce detailed technical documentation on the new optical solutions. Prepare performance reports and recommendations for the product development team.

**Qualifications**:

- Master’s student or equivalent in Optics, Physics, or related fields.
- Strong skills in optical design and characterization.
- Good understanding of microscopy principles and marine biology.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely present technical results.
- Innovative and curious mindset, with a strong interest in marine sciences and technology.
