The CRBM is a leading research institute in biochemistry and cell biology in the south of France. It is located on a multidisciplinary campus of the CNRS in Montpellier. Research at the institute covers fundamental and translational aspects of biology, with focus on: cell division, adhesion and signaling, ene regulation and systems biology. It is composed of 17 research groups, bringing together 170 staff members and students. CRBM benefits from state-of-the-art platforms dedicated to imaging, proteomics, animal facilities, deep sequencing and transcriptomics, FACS sorting, and histology through the Montpellier BioCampus network.
The “Cancer cell signalling” team aims at understanding how deregulation of cell phospho-signaling promotes this neoplastic process and uses this information to develop novel points of therapeutic intervention.

**Project title: unraveling and**
**targeting a novel receptor tyrosine kinase pathway in liver cancer**
**Project summary**: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains the third leading cause of cancer death. A majority of patients with HCC are diagnosed at a late stage, which makes them ineligible for curative surgical interventions and therapeutic options remain limited. Therefore, new therapies are needed for this cancer. Somatic alteration of gene copy number is an important mechanism in the formation of these cancers. For example, the amplification of a gene encoding a specific orphan receptor promotes tumor progression by a poorly understood mechanism. We have identified a new tumour microenvironment factor that activates this receptor. We have also developed an antibody that blocks its activity and display anti-tumour effect. Our objective is to decipher this oncogenic mechanism in HCC and to improve the anti-tumor activity of our therapeutic antibody. We should identify a new oncogenic pathway and therapeutic option in HCC.**Research environment**: this research project will be performed at CRBM in tight collaboration with IGMM, IRCM and CHU of Montpellier.**Funding**: 24-36 months CDD for a postdoc funded by INCA, starting in early 2024.
