- The PhD project will be carried out in the newly established research team “Cosynus” led by Tristan Rossignol and Young-Kyoung Park in Micalis institute, the synthetic and systemic biology division. The team is focused on synthetic consortia for microbial cell factories and has strong expertise in the synthetic biology of
- _Yarrowia lipolytica_ which has high potential as an industrial chassis.- Microbial synthetic communities have been gaining a lot of interest in the biotechnology field to improve bioproduction by providing reduced metabolic burden through a division of labor, exchange of resources and by expanding metabolic capabilities (McCarty and Ledesma-Amaro, 2019). However, tools for stable and controlled system are still limited in synthetic communities.- This PhD project aims to establish stable synthetic communities of the non-conventional yeast
- _Y. lipolytica_ strains and developing more complex synthetic communities with multiple species.- You will be in charge of:
- Genetic engineering of _Yarrowia lipolytica_ by using synthetic biology tools
- Growth analysis of communities at different scales
- Population kinetics of each strain in communities by flow cytometry
- Omics and metabolites analysis
