**Your mission**

You will be integrated in the team “Reeling Analyses” of the “Pipeline Group” department. “Pipeline Group” is a service provider for the installation engineering of pipelines and associated structures, whether on projects or on tenders, to support the offshore operations but also the field development at early engineering phase.

In the “Reeling Analyses” team, reeling of subsea pipeline is simulated using finite element software to ensure that the strain level is within the allowable limit to satisfy integrity checks when the pipeline is spooled on to the vessel reel and laid offshore. You are expected to review the existing reeling analysis methodology to familiarize with the work before commencing on the main objective of this internship.

You will support the development of an approach to analyze reelability of the pipeline with dimensional and strength mismatch across the girth weld with specific attention to the internal hi-lo across the girth weld.

Internship Objective:
The internship will be articulated as follows:

- Review the reeling vessel configuration and capabilities.
- Review the existing reeling analysis methodology (single pipe, Pipe-in-pipe with external parent coating and field joint coating)
- Review the existing pipe end cross-sectional geometry.
- Estimate the average OD, ID and WT
- Estimate the potential OD/ID mismatch using average values.
- Assess whether the 1mm internal hi-lo is justifiable.
- Do an FE analysis with the actual pipe end geometry with best fit and 1mm uniform hi-lo to assess the difference reeling strains..

Integrated in the “Reeling Analyses” team, you will mainly interface with team members from the different offices to ensure the needs from locations are properly captured. In addition, you will strongly interface with “Installation Method” team from “Pipeline Group”, but also with other departments, such as “Structural Design” engineering department.

**Your profile**

You shall demonstrate:

- Skills or interest in industrial process engineering,
- Skills and interest in FEA and beam theory,
- Advanced knowledge in MS Excel, VBA and/or Python,
- Flexibility,
- Proactive in taking personal responsibility,
- Good written English level expected to write clear and concise deliverables,
- Motivation to interface with other concerned departments and engineers,
- Genuine interest/motivation for team-working

Suresnes, France - eligible for partial home working

Occasional travel to our other offices in Sutton (UK) may be required.

**Duration**

6 months minimum, with start in March/April 2024.
