Senior Appointed Person – Mercury, Paris, FranceWe are recruiting for the role of Senior Appointed Person. Mercury focuses on innovative delivery, challenging opportunities, and a supportive environment to help our people reach their full potential.Scope Of The RoleThe Electrical Senior Authorised Person is the lead electrical position within the project. They are accountable for managing and implementing Mercury’s electrical safety rules across a portfolio of data centres, ensuring that a safe system of work is always adhered to.Key Responsibilities Of The RoleSafetyBe responsible for any live or potentially live electrical systems under their control.Manage, audit and enforce control of hazardous energies procedures, including operational control of lock out tag out systems.Identify electrical hazards and implement necessary mitigation measures.Be conversant with arc flash risk, hazard identification and mitigation measures, including electrical safety PPE. Monitor PPE and safety equipment, advise project team on calibration requirements or replacement equipment as required.Manage, audit, apply and enforce adherence to an Electrical Safety Permit System including access control.Manage, monitor and operate the access control system in conjunction with approving, cancelling and closing Electrical Safety Permits.Implement Mercury SOPs, jurisdictional requirements, client requirements, project-specific ESSOWs and ensure they are employed on the project through management, auditing and permitting.Complete any training required for compliance in the jurisdiction and with Mercury ESSOW. Ensure team members are competent prior to appointment and that training is recorded and monitored for ongoing development and compliance.Plan and execute safe electrical energisations, isolations and switching, including approval of requests and drafting/approving switching plans. Ensure approved switching plans and system boundaries are in place for HV/MV/LV systems.Escalate safety breaches or non-compliance issues to the Person in Charge of the Electrical Installation and Senior Engineer as appropriate to prevent risk.Ensure periodic inspection and auditing is completed as required by Mercury’s SOP, client requirements and jurisdictional requirements.Review and approve electrical safety-related risk assessments and method statements.Provide evidence of successful completion of colour blindness tests if not already completed.Assist in electrical incident investigations, ensuring all accidents, incidents or dangerous occurrences are reported to the Mercury Designated Person.Be onsite full-time and nominate a deputy of equal competencies to act in their absence.Ensure project mitigation against electric shock and arc flash, including provision, sign-out and monitoring of arc flash PPE for affected personnel, per project arc flash study or assessment by the Senior Engineer with assistance from the Senior Authorised Person.TechnicalBe a qualified electrician with a National Craft Certificate (or equivalent) verified by the relevant authority.Alternatively, hold a Level 6 or higher electrical qualification and complete jurisdictional training in verification, testing and certification and HV/MV/LV switching within the last two years.Be conversant with jurisdictional regulations and ensure compliance.Be competent to perform pre/post connection electrical testing, live/dead/live testing and assess results for safety and compliance.Be capable of electrical troubleshooting and monitoring subcontractors/vendors to ensure works comply with legislation and Mercury SOPs.Be familiar with equipment and project documentation (P&ID/SLDs, wiring diagrams, schematics, vendor manuals) and ensure teams are familiar and compliant.Oversee commissioning processes from Level 2B to Level 5, including tagging before energisation and IST-related activities.Authorize energisation and isolation requests and manage emergency removal of safety locks when required.Communication/ReportingEstablish and maintain positive working relationships with the project team, peers and vendors.Coordinate with permit applicants, providing clarity and direction on system familiarisation and permits.Manage electrical safety communications on the project (warning signage, energisation notices, toolbox talks, system updates and permitting). Escalate concerns to the Person in Charge, Senior Engineer and EHS Department as needed.Share system status updates with the project team and the Cx/Project Manager in a timely and concise manner.Attend project meetings and provide updates and risk considerations for planned works; participate in site meetings, engineering reviews, planning/scheduling and handover meetings.Present toolbox talks to project teams regularly and coordinate safety communications with the EHS team.Essential Criteria For The RoleDemonstrated history delivering HV/MV infrastructure projects and related experience (DC/DNO/IDNO/Power generation) when nominated at HV/MV levels.Experience managing work and safety across control boundaries.Experience with advanced cable works, phasing, testing and identification.Experience in HV/MV/LV system testing and verification.Trade background with 10–15 years of experience managing large installation projects and subcontractors.Recent high voltage authorised person training (last 2 years) and recent low voltage authorised person training.Proven track record of supervising large installation projects and strong health, safety and quality knowledge.Experience in design and build and excellent technical knowledge of electrical systems and mechanical systems.Excellent IT and communication skills; ability to work under strict deadlines and drive large-scale projects.Qualified electrician with National Craft Certificate or equivalent for the region.Other suitable electrical qualification equivalent to Level 6 or higher and familiarity with National Rules for Electrical Installations.CompetenciesCoordination, communication and planning; leading high-risk activities with compliance.Decision making, individual leadership, information monitoring and sharing, initiative and self-reliance, and performance under pressure.Process improvement, meeting leadership, following verbal and written instructions, and jurisdiction-specific qualifications.Mercury is an equal opportunities employer. #J-18808-Ljbffr
