Underwriter Marine

This role will work closely with the Head of Marine for France focusing on the development and expansion of our client and broker relationships, as well as supporting the acceleration of profitable growth and retention in achieving profitability targets, in line with our local, regional and global strategies. What You’ll Be Doing Work in support of the marine underwriting team and in collaboration with the middle office. Gradually take on more responsibilities in the role of underwriter with the guidance of senior underwriters. Contribute to the profitable growth of the Marine portfolio. Perform contract negotiation, attending and traveling to broker/client meetings, presentations to customers. Effectively interact, communicate and negotiate with all levels of external and/or internal business partners (such as Distribution, Claims, Risk Engineering). Representing Sompo externally in commercial negotiations and/or through participation in industry forums, corporate communications events, etc to raise Sompo’s profile within the market place. What You’ll Bring 2 to 5 years of experience in marine underwriting (mainly cargo but experience or knowledge in hull and machinery underwriting would be an advantage) Ability to work as part of a team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Good understanding of the maritime & transportation sector and knowledge in international Large Corporate risks underwriting. Willingness to travel in France and internationally as required.
