While we encourage experimentation and “failing fast” when needed, we also expect a steep learning curve: make mistakes, but never twice.If you're motivated by technical complexity, leadership impact, and building systems at scale—this is the place for you.What You’ll DoLead and scale Lago’s engineering organization to support a growing customer base and technical footprint.Define and drive Lago’s technical vision, engineering culture, and team structure.Architect and evolve our event-driven, microservices-based platform to handle billing at scale.Ensure security, resilience, and performance of Lago’s invoices and metering infrastructure.Partner with Product to build a high-velocity roadmap aligned with customer needs and market opportunities.Recruit, mentor, and retain a world-class team of engineers.Build scalable processes for code quality, releases, on-call, and incident management.Collaborate with founders and leadership to shape company strategy and drive technical execution.What We’re Looking For10+ years of engineering experience, with 5+ years in leadership roles (Head of Eng, VP, or CTO).Deep experience with Enterprise billing systems, payments, or financial infrastructure (Stripe, Adyen, in-house systems, etc.).Strong background in event-driven architectures and distributed systems at scale (like Kafka).Proven track record of growing and leading high-performing engineering teams in fast-paced environments.Hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies (Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS).Product mindset: you understand how engineering decisions impact user experience and business outcomes.Clear, empathetic communicator with a bias toward action and ownership.Comfortable working in an international, remote-friendly environment.Ideally based in Paris or London. Based in Europe (CET ±2h) is also fine.Bonus Points Experience contributing to or leading open-source projects Familiarity with usage-based pricing or metering pipelines Background in security and compliance for fintech or regulated environmentsWhy Join Lago?
