OverviewClyde & Co Canada LLP seeks a Legal Compliance Analyst to join the Office of the General Counsel. Location: Canada (Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver or Montreal); role reports to the Senior Equity Partner (Montreal). The position can be filled in person, remotely, or in a hybrid mode. The ideal candidate possesses strong written and oral communication, excellent research abilities, works well under pressure, collaborates effectively, and demonstrates sound judgment and client-focused service.The RoleThe Legal Compliance Analyst will work with the Office of the General Counsel and collaborate with Firm lawyers, the Business Acceptance Unit, and other global departments to identify and resolve potential conflicts of interest. The role focuses on risk identification, communicating potential resolutions, and securing approvals as part of business intake and new hire processes.Responsibilities include advising on conflict-of-interest issues for new matters and lateral hires, educating staff on conflicts policies, coordinating daily workflow, establishing methods for conflicts searches, supporting training, drafting engagement letters and waiver letters, and assisting the Business Acceptance Unit. The role requires up-to-date knowledge of professional conduct rules and regulatory frameworks across Canadian provinces. Availability to address global needs across time zones, including evenings and weekends, is expected. Other duties as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesAdvise Firm lawyers and staff on conflicts-of-interest issues related to new matters and lateral candidates.Educate staff on policies and procedures relating to conflicts and business intake.Coordinate daily workflow to ensure staff performance meets lawyers’ needs.Develop and monitor search methods for conflicts of interest to ensure consistency, accuracy, and thoroughness.Support training of new hires.Draft and review engagement letters, conflict waiver letters, and ethical wall memoranda; communicate with lawyers and clients to finalize these letters.Support the Firm's Business Acceptance Unit and assist leadership as needed.Stay informed of current rules, laws, and issues affecting Firm lawyers.Maintain knowledge of Rules of Professional Conduct and provincial regulatory schemes; address ethical issues.Be available to serve Firm’s global needs across multiple time zones.Other duties as necessary by the business.'Essential Skills & ExperienceLaw degree from an accredited Canadian university or equivalent combination of education and experience.5+ years of law firm experience, specifically in conflicts, risk management, or insurance.Experience in conflicts identification and clearance.Fluent in English and French (verbal and written).Active bar license in good standing in a Canadian province where Clyde & Co Canada LLP maintains an office (Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, or British Columbia) is an asset.The FirmClyde & Co is a leading global law firm focusing on insurance, transport, construction, energy, trade and commodities.
