Post-Doc
The successful candidate will work with members of the ANR REVISE project, “Next Iteration in Belief Change Theory,” which aims to advance our understanding of and develop the theory of iterated belief revision.
The main tasks of the project include the understanding and development of revision operators over epistemic spaces; the study of connections between belief revision theory and learning; the development of a software platform for the efficient implementation of revision and belief merging operators; the investigation of the relationship between revision and update; and the construction of a map of operators in belief revision theory.
The successful candidate will contribute to one or more of these research tasks.
This postdoctoral position is part of the ANR REVISE project, “Next Iteration in Belief Change Theory.” The project is led by the Principal Investigator (PI), Sébastien Konieczny, who will be the main contact person for the postdoctoral researcher. The other members of the project are Salem Benferhat, Jean-François Condotta, Patricia Everaere, Jean-Marie Lagniez, Emmanuel Lonca, and Pierre Marquis.
The successful candidate will be based at the Centre de Recherche en Informatique de Lens (CRIL, UMR 8188), a joint research laboratory of Université d'Artois and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). CRIL conducts research in artificial intelligence and its applications.
A PhD in Computer Science or Mathematics is expected. We welcome applications from candidates with expertise in one or more of the research areas relevant to the project, including:
- Belief revision
- Belief merging
- Reasoning in the presence of inconsistencies
- Inconsistency measures
- Reliability
- Trust
- Truth-seeking and verisimilitude
- Connections between belief revision theory and learning
