Software Engineering Manager

Robeauté is redefining the future of neurosurgery with self-propelled microrobots designed to navigate the human brain with unprecedented precision. Our technology makes it possible to reach deep brain regions that were previously inaccessible, without invasive surgery. We’ve developed microrobots capable of travelling inside the brain to collect biopsies, deliver cancer drugs, and implant electrodes for neurological treatments. Since our founding in 2017, we’ve filed 50+ patents and successfully tested our technology in living animals, with human clinical trials targeted for 2026. Now, as we scale, we are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead and actively contribute to the development of robust, compliant, and innovative software solutions that power our microrobotic systems. What you’ll do Architecture, Development & Product Roadmap Actively contribute to the design, coding, and testing of software components across the stack (embedded, backend, frontend). Define and maintain the software architecture, ensuring scalability, modularity, and robustness. Lead the development of features aligned with product milestones and clinical requirements. Collaborate closely with hardware, systems, and product teams to ensure seamless software-hardware integration. Set up and maintain IT infrastructure(servers, cloud environments, CI/CD pipelines) to support development and deployment. Stay up to date with emerging technologies in robotics, software engineering, and medical devicesto inform product strategy. Regulation Ensure all software development complies with medical device regulations(FDA, ISO 13485, IEC 62304), in close collaboration with QA/RA. Implement and oversee static code analysis,unit testing, anddocumentationpractices to meet regulatory requirements. Contribute to the preparation of technical documentationfor audits, certifications, and regulatory submissions. Promote a culture of quality, traceability, andengineering disciplineacross the software lifecycle. Team Leadership (Team of 4 Engineers) Manage and mentor a team of 4 software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Leadsprint planning,code reviews, andtechnical workshops, ensuring engineering excellence. Participate inrecruitment, onboarding, and career development of team members. Support individual growth through regular feedback, goal setting, and hands‑on technical guidance. Technical Skills Advanced expertise inPython, with hands‑on experience in static code analysis, automated testing, and production‑grade development. Solid knowledge ofJavaScript, ideally with experience inReact.jsor similar frameworks. Experience working inregulated environments, with strong familiarity withFDA,ISO 13485, andIEC 62304standards. Proficiency withGit,CI/CD pipelines, and testing frameworks likePyTest,Jest, or equivalents. Comfortable working acrossembedded systems,cloud infrastructure, andsoftware-hardware interfaces. Personal Attributes Hands‑on and pragmatic, with a strong technical foundation and leadership mindset. Excellent communicator, able to bridge technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Organized, proactive, and capable of managing priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Passionate about building impactful technology in a multidisciplinary setting. Education and Experience Engineering degree or equivalent incomputer science,software engineering, or a related field. At least5 years of experienceleading software teams in demanding environments, ideally inMedTech,robotics, orregulated industries.
